CCFC History

Chinese Christian Fellowship Church originated from Chinese for Christ ChicagoStudent Center.  In 1962, China Inland Mission missionary Rev. Russell Glazier retired with his wife in Chicago and was invited by Rev Calvin Chao to begin student ministry.  A three-story apartment was purchased in 1966 to be used as student center.  In 1971, Wesley retirement home was rented for Sunday services with Rev. Glazier serving as pastor.  Due to heavy workload and Rev. Glazier's advancement in years, Miss Deborah Wu was invited from Hong Kong to come in 1971 and establish a bible study class.  With attendance over a hundred in 1972, the Sunday service was moved to North Park College.  After Rev. Glazier's retirement in 1973, the board invited Rev. Yuan from Brazil to come and pastor the church.  He resigned in 1976 and Rev. Andrew Hsieh was hired as interim pastor.  At the same time a house was purchased to serve as office and place for smaller services.  In 1977, the church established a witness center in Rolling Meadows, which later became an independent church.  1978 saw the Sunday service moved to Emmanuel Covenant Church and resignation of Rev. Andrew Hsieh who went to California for seminary teaching. During this time the Sunday pulpit came to rely upon Rev. Raymond Frame, Rev. Lin, Miss Ho and numerous Trinity Seminary students.
Under God's guidance, the church hired Rev. Moses Keng in 1980 from Philippinesto come and pastor the church.  The following year saw the beginning of annual missions month, faith pledges, and support for foreign missions.  In 1984, due to increase in attendance and growth of Chinese families in northern suburbs, the church moved to Morton Grove Community Church.  Bible studies were active, a youth group and choir (HCP) were founded as well.  A piece of land in Wilmette was purchased in 1985, while construction began in 1987 and was completed in following year.  The church changed its name to Chinese Christian Fellowship Church and God's grace overflowed abundantly.  In order to meet the needs of the younger generation, an English service began in 1990.  Ming Han, Rev. Mitchel Herring, and Daniel Tai served in the English congregation.  Alex Cobb was hired in 1996 as the English Ministry Coordinator.  In 1998, the church began Evangelism Explosion training.
In 1999, Miss Deborah Wu passed away and Mrs. Chris Suen was hired as minister. Brother Lin, a church intern, was hired in 2000 and later ordained as reverend in July.  In the same year, cooperation with Northwestern University Bible Study Fellowship began and support was given to Rev. Shih Ke-Gang to develop campus ministry.  December of 2000 saw the retirement of Rev. Moses Keng after shepherding this church for twenty years and six months.  The entire congregation voted in November to hired Rev. Lin as senior pastor.  After the resignation of Alex Cobb in 2002, brother Adam Co was hired in July 2004 as the English Minister.
